manmuse

My name is Manuel Destanque. I was born in Paris, France, in 1963, and I have been performing and composing for over forty years.

I began learning and playing the guitar in my teens and turned to open-tuned instruments at the end of the 1990s, teaching myself slide on the resonator and the weissenborn.

Manmuse encompasses the songwriting work I have done throughout the years, either independently or with fellow artists.

I write in both English and French, and blues, soul, jazz, and Americana were my biggest influences.

Some of my favourite artists are Prince, Chris Whitley, Michael Brecker, D’Angelo and Daniel Lanois.

Songwriters I look up to are Bob Dylan, Chris Whitley, Joni Mitchell, Prince, Randy Newman, Brian Blade, Alain Bashung and Francis Cabrel.
